The Water Never Changed
A bottle of water costs a dollar at the corner store.
Three at the gym.
Five at the theater.
Six at thirty-thousand feet.
Same water.
Same weight.
Same simple, honest thing pulled up from the same forgotten ground.
Nothing about the water was ever the problem.
Only the room it was standing in.
Think on that.
You have been the water your whole life.
You were poured into rooms that could not read you,
handed to people who could not afford you,
placed on shelves beside things you were never meant to be measured against —
and when they walked past, you believed them.
You believed the aisle.
You believed the price tag.
You believed the mouth that said, not today.
But the water never changed.
It was pure at a dollar and pure at six.
It was pure when nobody reached for it,
and pure when a thirsty hand finally did.
The clerk did not make it. The register did not bless it.
The room did not create its worth — the room only revealed what the room was willing to see.
Here is the quiet, terrible, beautiful truth:
Your value is not a negotiation.
It is not a performance.
It is not a receipt handed to you by a crowd,
a lover, a boss, a parent, a scroll, a silence.
Your value is a fact.
And a fact does not flinch when the room disagrees with it.
So when you feel small, ask the harder question —
not what is wrong with me,
but what is this room, and why am I still standing in it?
Some rooms are supermarkets.
Some rooms are deserts.
Walk toward the thirst.
Because the moment the water finds the desert,
nobody argues about the price.
They just drink,
and weep,
and thank the sky it came.
Be the water.
Change the room.

DCG

“A bottle of water can be one dollar at a supermarket, three dollars at the gym, five dollars at the movies, six dollars on a plane — same water. The only thing that changed its value was the place. So next time you feel your worth is nothing, maybe you’re at the wrong place.”
