For whom will the bell toll?

In childhood we become enamored with fairy tales

As adults we create our own

Still enamored by this fiction we make

Asking the right questions allows the truth to be shown

In misplaced trust

The gullible will fail

Some children learn life lessons

Some adults will simply just wail

Imagination turns corporeal

When fantasy becomes real

The measure of our reality

Is the only hope for an appeal

Human behavior is vexing

We stop looking at what we see

We invent alternate scenarios

Becoming an obedient and deserving trustee

The cynic disposes of reciprocity

The hysterical will lose control

The hedonist is driven by pleasure

For whom will the bell toll?

DCG

Contrition

If we have no standard to live by

We become lost in our moral decay

Using slogans to stay hidden from others

Our sophistry now on display

The rules of our engagement

Will change from day to day

A special hell for those who are aware

An equal condemnation for the ignorant who betray

The temptation of misused ego

The lack of any self resolve

Will impune others to accountability

As our own souls indeed will devolve

DCG

It’s easier to blame society

It’s easier to blame society

Than to improve our own moral character

Some say that’s why we have laws

Some say that’s why we have a savior

The social justice warriors

Will often loudly protest

They see only the problems outside of them

What problems in their character will they profess?

The character of a social network

Begins with the character of the individual

Only for the pragmatic

This is a first principle

How you look upon the world

Gives you a prism for what you see

Only you must decide how to act

Only you must decide how to be

DCG

But rather what lies in between

Alone

Aghast

Caught in the chaos

It happened so fast

There are forces of evil

There are forces of good

A road paved with good intentions

How shall we determine what we should?

The world is watching

The politicians doublespeak

The religious pray for answers

The zealots prey on the meek

Men are corrupted and are falible

So little do we learn

The history of our fathers

Lay in embers of what we earn

The many ways forward

That we tread goes unforeseen

Not in the realms of Heaven or Hell

But rather what lies in between

DCG

Without any moral compass

You’ll never really know

How and when your life is gonna change

Until you reach a point

That you’ll never be able to exchange

The actions we define

Living words of our poetic tale

Are told to us in memory

Remembered before our last exhale

If we continue to live a life

Without any self reflection

Ignoring any signs

That present themselves upon our inspection

Changing the course we set

Without any moral compass

Will likely result in the ambiguity

This misguided group is our alumnus

DCG

Because you have watched and done nothing

There is a pandemic

One of ignorance and one of cowardice

How many times will it take?

Before the mob pushes you to the precipice?

The fight for freedom in your name’s sake?

You cannot lead successfully

That of which you hate

They resort by controlling the narrative

For those they would subjugate

If you indulge in threats of violence

You incite hatred and you incite fear

Only consumed by the impoverished minds

A failed academic and failed moral education that is clear

So if you stand by and watch

Say nothing to reject the fiction

A different reality is created

Around a falsely presented affliction

What is left after the submission?

A misplaced trust has taken place

Because you have watched and done nothing

You’ll likely receive a boot in the face

DCG

Are we not compromised?

Can our reasoning be corrupt?

Can we hold politicians accountable?

Only if we can interrupt?

An entitlement class

The collective Socialist dream

Producers in a society produce

While those who only take is a right that they deem

The inflated ego

Exempt themselves from the law

Self interest the temptation

They manifest their own moral downfall

The accolades of celebrity

The seduction of mass delusion

The “no fault of mine” bubble

Is the result of their conclusion

DCG

Self-Reflection

Self-Reflection

The razors edge

To better myself

I’ve made this pledge

The search to improve myself

On the lessons of my life lived

Can benefit me

On the perspective that it gives

Yet I’m chasing a ghost

When I dwell on the past

I no longer serve myself

As the cost is vast

You heal from wounds

Not by attaching to the grief

Reliving a memory over and over again

There is no relief

One must move forward

I must create a new me

Build upon a new foundation

On how I intend to be

Understanding this equation

W. Somerset Maugham’s Larry Darrell – The Razor’s Edge

Steven Spielberg’s Saving Private Ryan

Two characters, two world wars

Changed their lives forever in the face of dyin’

The awakening of human spirit

We are beings of frequency ready to receive

We are also responsible and capable

For what we shall perceive

Be you on a pilgrimage of ignorance

Or on a pilgrimage of awakening

We calibrate our receptivity

We calibrate our enabling

Opportunities are yours

For those capable to see

Understanding this equation

Is a fundamental key

DCG

I didn’t think it could get much better

I didn’t think it could get much better

Never have I ever wanted something so much

The pleasure is now mine as I partake in this endeavor

Little did I know that I would use it as a crutch

After all these years I return to a state of bliss

But only for a moment as I forget this specious claim

It really does not satisfy my sensibilities

Never does it ever fill my heart for the sake of my name

We hypnotize ourselves into thinking what we would fancy

But how many times do we really just try to deceive?

Negotiating this battle using subtle mental gymnastics

It’s amazing how we trick ourselves into what we believe

It this what we teach the children?

Or is it something they teach us?

The purest minds will not objectify

And in this we can surely trust

Remove the silly objects that distract us from lethargy

Remove the temptation in vessels of our desire

Just look to the insatiable clenching fist in a jar

If one surrenders their grip, than only then you may acquire
