Enrich a life to Survive

Ethics should have a deep root

In everything that we do

Our treatment of other people

Of ourselves

And of politics too

We have all been wronged

But there are many who don’t know why

Disassociate from yourself and others

The amoral have no need to lie

What happened to our culture and people?

A devil’s ego that lives within

Excludes themselves from others morality

This herein lies the sin

A destruction of family and values

An educational system designed to fail

America’s literacy rate of 17 percent

The proof in the pudding of this tale

The greatest threat to western society

When migrants do not assimilate

If they care not of liberty yet demand equality

There defines the cultural checkmate

So if these words reach you

Keep our values alive

Educate and teach to others

Enrich a life to survive

Motives of the beguiled

Motives of the beguiled

Often hidden from the meek

Considered safe to prey on

The non confrontational are who they seek

The vapid souls

Who bring about discontent

Harm themselves

The insolent

In every interaction

And with every exchange

We have a chance to better ourselves

We have a chance to change

A pattern in our behavior

Not always self-evident

Sometimes the questions of others

Can extrude the eminent

We are not just the animal

Not just the beast

Nor are we an insect

As human reason can be released

I don’t see the truth

In the words that you speak

Only in the behavior

And the actions which you seek

Part of the human condition

We are able to reflect

Think about our past

And begin to dissect

Only the conscientious

Only the awake

Examine themselves to reconcile

Better for them to give then to take

In Ignorance We Consent

It’s not about being right

We are not the authorities of moral high ground

What matters is our actions

I claim this argument sound

The discovery of ego

Elude many it will

Distract and misguide us

The ego is a shill

The ethics in human behavior

Does not represent justice for the masses

In ignorance we consent

Representative of all classes

The Quicksand of the Soul

Attachment

The quicksand of the soul

Siddhartha mustered this insight

So many, many years ago

How do I know?

How do I relate?

Do I make this up?

Do I confabulate?

How many paths?

How many ways?

We can seduce ourselves

Clinging to this fantasy gaze

Fear not my compatriots

The wisdom comes from age

Tempered in the forge of reality

Allow the mind to disengage

Tap the Fire in my Soul

Inspire me to become better

Tap the fire in my soul

Unleash my potential

This has always been a goal

But for me you make it easy

I’m touched and I tell you in this way

I am thankful for your influence

I am a better man than I was yesterday

I embrace these gifts

Lavish me in splendor

The scent of your hair and the touch of your skin

Makes my heart tender

I am truly blessed

My outlook in life

I greet my opportunities

I discard my strife

I welcome the Day

And what I can bring

What I can provide

An emotional wellspring

Let this be Understood

I had to tune out the news today

I keep seeing the perpetual propaganda

Need to keep my eye on the ball

Need to accept the Miranda

Focus on the moment

Forget the Past

Forgive and be positive

Do not become the iconoclast

We allow ourselves to get caught

The trappings of the hive mind

Just a little information

Seeds our vision and makes us blind

Don’t want an embittered heart

Take out the poison that’s in my blood

Control the thinking that

Will create this toxic flash flood

My meditation

My triumph over the negatives

Sends me on a trajectory over

My go-to expletives

Send me on my way

Let me do something good

Let kindness flow

Let this be understood

The Forgiveness of Folly

We tread in place around our world

Not paying attention to our behavior

Yet we continue to cast judgement on those around us

Who are we…a savior?

Losing focus on our manner

We just might play by the selfish rule

Looking to get what’s ours

Who do we really befool?

Hard lessons must be learned

Before the behaviors get set and gel

By example we must lead

By example we must dispel

We prompt up each other

We support our creed

As we can fail each other

If we look only to our own need

The seduction of attention

Is a very curious thing

It can profoundly change us

Lead us to self-worshiping

I know of my folly

I have spent time on this road

It doesn’t get us any further

This is what I forebode

To be honest

We must see not our differences but our similarities

To recognize the landscape

To recognize the solidarity

Many factions will not agree

Many factions are bereft

Look to the Roman Emperors

Murdered by the Senate or Praetorian Guard’s Cleft

History often repeats

Many people are still much the same

Despite new rules and new societies

Many still operate under this peculiar game

When will we grow up?

How many more centuries will it take?

Forgive us our misdirected energies

Forgive us our folly that we forsake
