The curious mind turns inward

This can get complicated

In case study after case study I find

The intellectual and the emotional

In the aggregate are not well defined

That is to say

Cognitive ability

Does not ensure

Emotional stability

Though the two are entangled

Beyond most peoples awareness

Easier to see in others

Because this does not usually scare us

Are we so keen?

As to diagnose another?

Or is this just a pretense?

To place yourself above your brother?

The curious mind turns inward

Attempt to use introspection as a tool

But only the best of us

Will not become the fool

Self discovery is vital

For every human being

But it usually takes others

To guide through the unforeseen

DCG

Don’t give up

Sometimes I feel defeated

I feel deflated and I feel down

When you lose any hope

It’s hard to make a rebound

If you can make any peace

With your self-doubt

If you remain steadfast

There is a chance you will not opt out

Don’t give up

Fight the fight

It may get tough

But you might sleep better at night

The more we acquiesce

The more we stop to try

The less we’ll have success

The more you’ll want to cry

Revere the enthusiastic

Remember the Greek

“The god within”

Reject what is meek

To become courageous

We should never rest

Until the good is better

And the better is best

DCG

How will you decide?

When you lie to the people

The public trust now in debate

The more you lie

The more we investigate

Some people will follow

Some people will lead

How will you decide?

On what you will believe?

If you can’t trust what they say

See how they act and see what they do

With every additional lie

You hold the burden for what is true

Fool me once shame on you

Fool me twice shame on me

Develop a better judgement

To determine what you see

DCG

If only in the shadow of clarity

The mind will create

A fiction, a myth, a way to explain

To decipher a reality

That we wish to retain

We have limited ability

The flaws of our reason have surely been told

The errors of our thinking throughout our history

There is much to behold

Some ideas act as a placebo

It makes you feel better if you believe

Yet it remains untrue

It is you that you deceive

Reality is not a subject

That we can all agree

Whether it be ethics

Or whether it be epistemology

The search for a universal

The search of a collectivity

May not ever be realized

If only in the shadow of clarity

Common sense is not common

Our logic will often betray

Our better sense of judgement

A logical argument in decay

The political academics

Argue over political philosophy

This is precisely why the constitution was born

To stifle any attempt with tyranny

DCG

The solution of humanity

I’ve thought quite a lot about myself

And the path I am on

The struggles I manage

When will this ugly duckling become a swan?

I’ve studied human behavior

And the history of philosophy

Influenced by the world religions

Looking for a perfecting ideology

I look for solace

To ease my mind

When thinking too much

On things of the troubling kind

There is strength in your weakness

Knowing sometimes you must bend

Like a reed in the wind

Or when we make amends

The problem of wisdom

We do not practice what we preach

Sometimes it is not in our grasp

And outside our reach

The power of forgiveness

The solution of humanity

A way to spare ourselves

And a way to keep our sanity

DCG

Awkward moments

Awkward moments

When you are young

What our parents could not teach us

As we engage them one by one

The growing pains of youth

There is maturation in every age

We are most awkward

If we box ourselves into a cage

Not having the confidence

In how we act or what we say

Our behavior will be tested in real time

Through this embarrassment we may find another way

I’d like to think I’ve learned lessons

Watching my friends at play

So if you observe closely

You just might learn something everyday

Do not punish yourself

When you look back upon a miscalculation

We all have to endure

Our self arbitration

DCG

Post realization lament

Why must we torture ourselves?

With guilt and shame?

The miracle of forgiveness

It is our upadana that we must tame

We can bond to our appetites

Or any maladaptive behavior

Be mindful of this truth

Or be mindful of your savior

We have the ability to overcome this suffering

Yet we fail to correctly act

Part of the human condition

Part of a natural fact

We are creatures of habit

Most people operate on the limbic system and react

It’s the higher neo-cortex

We must keep intact

Ancient wisdom or modern psychology

Where do you place your trust?

Which sources are accurate?

Which sources are just?

DCG

Usually rendered by taking the red pill

Freshly cut lawn

Beautiful warm day

The fragrance of grass and hibiscus

The olfactory senses of May

I bask in the light with the butterflys

Feeling the breeze on my skin

The visual beauty is astonishing

A treasure of the soul within

Hunger will enhance our taste

Water will quench our thirst

The spiritual offerings from a loved one

May calm us at our worst

Whether it be an empirical tendency

Or a rationalist will

The balance in the musings of the human condition

Usually rendered by taking the red pill

DCG

Not all is what it seems

What is possible May not be probable

What May feel good May not be good

Not all is what it seems

As this should be understood

Your wisdom in life

Will be tested many times

What are the rules you live by?

What was the punishment for the crimes?

Adopt or learn a moral ethic

Something tried, tested, and true

Live by this code that you stand for

Make everyone know this is you

This task will not be easy

Mistakes will be made along the way

There is a reason we have forgiveness

The opportunity to make good on another day

You will not be forsaken

The losses will be fewer than the gain

Do not be fooled by the rhetoric

Much of which is in vain

DCG

From whom shall we hide?

If you kneel at the alter of your sin

And bow down to the path of your destruction

Than you must eventually face

A self imposed abduction

How many of us

Compromised our common sense?

Subdue our better judgement?

Just what side do you stand on the fense?

If and when you awake

Upon self-realization

A chance for change

With self-indignation

Light eviscerates darkness

Forgiveness will always atone

The highest form of love

Is that we are never ever alone

My brother once told me

The universe will provide

To whom will we seek absolution?

From whom shall we hide?
