Sometimes We Boycott our Feelings

The real motivation behind the attraction

Underneath the thinking is the feeling

Uncover the justification

Promote the healing

Here I stand head in hand

Turn my face to the wall

Lennon’s hide your love away

Feeling two foot small

Ask the question

What comes first?

Some theories of emotion posit feeling before cognition

James-Lange, Cannon-Bard, but the Schachter-Singer two factor theory seems well versed

Any way you cut it

Deep forces arise within

Shaping our behaviors

This is how bonding memories begin

Sometimes we know the exact reasons

Sometimes we do not

Sometimes we boycott our feelings

That often precede the thought

Best to be open and honest

Childhood memories are indeed strong

If you cannot identify the core feelings

Turns out you may get it all wrong
