The Dark Poet

The darkest moments

Of my time on this earth reveal

The division of man

From the sophists’

Earn mass appeal

We turn on others

Scratching our way to the top

Thinking this will help us

Dog eat dog never ends,

Never stops

Seeking shelter

Some may retreat

Some may lash out

Some may simply weep

Standing in the shadows

Both in dream

And in wake

Cast out the fallen angels

And the tides that they make

The dark poet

Treads deeply

Commiserating the weaknesses of man

Tuned only to the misgivings

Tis this he understands

So in his quest

In futility’s sake

A man in constant sorrow

In fear he trembles and shakes

The tempest

The muse

The sirens

Refuse

The trappings of hate

Fester within us

No debate

It’s in their appeal

That we transgress

And fail to heal

The dark poet

Treads deeply

Commiserating the weaknesses of man

Tuned only to the misgivings

Tis this he understands
