We all have our crosses to bare
The misanthrope projects their grievances
The forsaken rarely take time to share
We define our intentions
From our works in our making
Little do we contemplate
The unforeseen events we are mistaking
The arrogant dismiss the self evident
The prudent chart a course more true
Yet neither can claim any authority over
All events in what they purview
The individualist sacrifices his liberty
A culture war in the collective askew
Take leave the dearly departed
The disenfranchised exclaim “adieu“
The theater of the body politic
The masks we wear make their debut
Scarce are those who will triumph
An accomplishment for only a few
