Be Mindful of the Disenchanted

Don’t give up on yourself

When you think all is lost

Giving up all hope

Is too great of a cost

Sometimes we are awake

Sometimes we are asleep

Never telling ourselves the truth

That we are consciously willing to speak

You might call it denial

Or a self-defense from pain

Self-medicate to escape reality

How far must we fall before we can reach for the sky again?

I’ve had some set-backs

I have also loved others if it’s all the same

Not unlike the Johnny Mandel song Suicide is Painless

There are many who will not refrain

If you are compassionate

Having a willing moral compass to share

Be mindful of the disenchanted

Heal a heart that is woefully bare

The Indictment of Human Reason

If you aren’t able to change the mind

You force our will to subjugate to a ruling class

You criminalize ideas you can’t win

You circumvent the impasse

You want to bring down a nation

You defile the populous from within

Indoctrinate and dumb down the children

A cultural original sin

All the judges of history

Will not be silent

Even if you re-write the history books

We will never exonerate the violent

You can change the language

Make it all about hate speech

Attack the first amendment

For those who follow I will beseech

You cannot get inside my head

My reason is sound

If you put my body in jail

My mind will never be bound

The indictment of human reason

Liberty under attack

Who will tow the line?

Who will double back?

The Many Signposts on our Path

You tell yourself a fantasy

The expectation is defined

If you are able to see the truth

A reality is refined

You will never see the light

If you continue to look in the dark

How can you correct a wrong?

If you never attempt to embark?

Do you ever question your motives?

Take the time to examine your spin?

Do you always come out on top?

Does your justification always win?

By definition we are not perfect

But only some are receptive to see

The many signposts on our path

Will remind us but with no guarantee

The Travesty of a Generation

So you think you know about the world

Espousing something you read from a book

Something that a liberal arts professor said

But did you research it yourself and take a good look?

So if you’re going to make an argument

You better learn how to make your case

Only the rules of logic

Is what you must embrace

Do not trust the sophist

Nor the emotionally manipulated mind

Not the religious scientism cult

These are all of an ignorant kind

I have pity for the indoctrinated youth

I have contempt for federalized education

A travesty of an ignorant populace

The travesty of a generation

The World keeps Turning

Do you change your mind?

Or do you stay the same?

When your arrogance fails

And your vanity remains

Are you quick to point the finger?

When a misunderstanding takes place

Are you prone to have an argument?

As you get up into their face?

Are you thoughtful of an opposing opinion?

Another point of view?

It’s not about proving who’s right

It’s not all about you

We are not the center of the universes

No matter how much we want to be

The world keeps turning

Learn to get along with those whom you disagree

DCG

Only we Hold the Key

Imagine what you could do

If you took off the chains

Set free a potential

Releasing the reins

The artifice of ego

A coming of age

No need of narcissistic reinforcers

Time to open the cage

Forgiving past failures

Not repeating past mistakes

Adopting better behaviors

Not worrying about any bad breaks

Resolution

A better me

Opportunity is yours

Only we hold the key

We Must Follow our own Lead

Routines are healthy

But if you are caught in an unhealthy routine

The delivery from your situation

May be hidden and unforeseen

Don’t expect others to help you

Your loved ones may not know

The disparity in your life

Is something we often will never show

Recognition is crucial

The self-aware will trip over the pain

Not just once

But again and again

If we pay attention

In order for us to succeed

We must follow this simple rule

We must follow our own lead

DCG

I Heard it from the Dali Lama

I heard it from the Dali Lama

It was also JC that said

For those that do you wrong

Return with goodness and love instead

We do not have to agree with others

We may have a different point of view

But we should not personalize emotional attacks

It is this animus we must see through

If you shine light on any darkness

You may be surprised at what you see

We must rise above our own egos

Respond with kindness to truly be free

Change a mind with kindness

You will work good deeds in belief

Change a heart with kindness

You will forever cast away any opportunity of grief

DCG

Just a Mad and Bitter Chant

So you’re angry at the world

A passive-aggressive rant

Condemning those around you

Just a mad and bitter chant

Ironically you claim to follow the Buddha

Clearly you know not what he was about

Your moral turpitude alone

Leaves me with no questionable doubt

The rage you give this power to

Will consume any goodness within

The sooner you put this behind you

The sooner you can again begin

Before you lecture others

Resolve the issue from within your own heart

If instead you cling to this venture

You will slowly tear yourself apart

Your Actions Become your History

Have you ever followed your thought

Out to its conclusion?

Don’t live in the past

Only the present holds the solution

I’ve found out a lot about myself

The feedback from friends that I forgot

Exhibits my selective amnesia

Equivocation of an afterthought

We makes choices

What if I am not who I think I am?

If my memory serves to hide me from truth

Where does the scrutiny begin?

Take a good look at yourself

Become what you want to be

Never forget where you came from

Your actions become your history
