My Poetry is my X-Ray

The universe is mysterious

Connecting to messages we send and receive

Responding to what is positive

Or that to which we grieve

Somebody living in Boise

Relates to someone in San Diego

Somehow a connection through the ether

Slips out of the shadow

I know you’ve experienced loss

But in loss we can also find our way

There is a purpose in our healing

Pain is a teacher but it does not have to stay

Even 953 miles

Does not seem far away

Something I can’t really explain

So my poetry is my X-Ray

Motives of the beguiled

Motives of the beguiled

Often hidden from the meek

Considered safe to prey on

The non confrontational are who they seek

The vapid souls

Who bring about discontent

Harm themselves

The insolent

In every interaction

And with every exchange

We have a chance to better ourselves

We have a chance to change

A pattern in our behavior

Not always self-evident

Sometimes the questions of others

Can extrude the eminent

We are not just the animal

Not just the beast

Nor are we an insect

As human reason can be released

I don’t see the truth

In the words that you speak

Only in the behavior

And the actions which you seek

Part of the human condition

We are able to reflect

Think about our past

And begin to dissect

Only the conscientious

Only the awake

Examine themselves to reconcile

Better for them to give then to take

Out by the seaside

I have a surprise

I would like to share

For a few hours in the day

Outside in the fresh air

You told me once

Something you’ve never done

Not as a child

Or with your daughters and your son

I want to invite you

For you and I to take a ride

Out by the boardwalk

Out by the seaside

Wind in our hair

Tandem bicycle built for two

You’re with me

And I’m with you

It brings me joy

If I can put a smile on your face

It is your happiness

That I’d like to embrace

So come with me

And enjoy the ride

Something to remember me by

Along the ocean tide

Your Bona Fides should Represent

We may find out as children

When parents can lead us astray

They tell us how the world works

Until we find out the error of their ways

I am told many things about the world

With little evidence, faulty reasoning and bias not far behind

Despite ignorance and poor role modeling

We must still search for a truth that we can find

We are an agency in the population

There are many challenges we meet with resistance

Our own accounting

Our own insistence

If you speak out and criticize

Your bona fides should represent

Something to backup your claims

Something to ground your intent

Too many times we are not cogent

Not in thought, not in mind

Often we may say things

But oh so maligned

Awareness Imposes a Social Contract

With social graces I’ve played the fool

Expecting we are purveyors of the golden rule

Despite my failures in past relations

We hold some people in our hearts

Disregarding our lamentations

The outcome is not contingent

And repeat I would do it again

To give of yourself

I would not have to pretend

After decades of experience

I’ve rendered some conclusions

Without contradiction

Without any delusions

I only speak for myself

And so I say

This works for me

With no dismay

I know I am different

Take ego out of self and you will see

The intrinsic value to share

Sometimes we can overcome reciprocity

Always use reason

Take care guiding the soul

Don’t let surface defects

Detract you from your goal

Awareness imposes a social contract

And with this responsibility

We can heal the scars

We do have opportunity

There is no perfect world

No utopian society

Hard work and sacrifice

Overcome the ignorance and set yourself free

Hive-Mind Devotees

A plague is amongst us

The scourge of faulty reason devours the free

No longer think for yourself

Hive mind devotees

The social justice warriors

Make claim to entitlements a decree

Wanting the producers in the society

To give them things for free

They speak about human rights

With moral indignation as they steal

To redistribute the wealth

Based on an ideology of how they feel

The state of the union: what stage are we?

From bondage to faith and faith to courage

Courage to liberty then to abundance we will see

From abundance to selfishness

Then selfishness to complacency

From complacent to apathetic

From apathetic to dependency

The death of a nation

The conquest of society

Those who want to control us

The death of liberty

We are vexed with this pattern

Our flawed humanity

Why must we repeat this cycle?

The pundits of history

Are we too tolerant?

In decadence we give up sovereignty

A dystopian destination

Another problem with fiat currency

In Ignorance We Consent

It’s not about being right

We are not the authorities of moral high ground

What matters is our actions

I claim this argument sound

The discovery of ego

Elude many it will

Distract and misguide us

The ego is a shill

The ethics in human behavior

Does not represent justice for the masses

In ignorance we consent

Representative of all classes
