I don’t know what the future holds

I leave it in Gods hands

The people I meet and care about

I pray they are in his plans

I pray that I may flourish

As an instrument of the good

I pray for my family and loved ones

As I hope this is understood

I live freely, I love deeply

I want to empower and give no harm

I offer kindness and devotion

Some will say that this is my charm

I learn looking backwards

But I must always focus on today

I am thankful for my blessings

And this is what I say…

If you have called me darling

I know you know who you are

If this poem finds you

I thank my lucky star

The fact is I know that you like me

And you know that I like you

I’ve already seen into your heart

If only we can begin anew

I know you have reservations

You’ve told me this as well

Please know I am here if you want me

Also know I realize this will be a hard sell

I do not give up that easily

I can be as stubborn as you

Somehow the kindred spirits within us

The look or the smile on your face

The sound of your voice when you’re near me

The way you walk gives me pause at your Grace 

Truthfully, I sense a reservation 

I am not asking you to breach

I find you very attractive

I am hoping for a friendship we can reach 

Yes, I don’t know details about you

But from what I gather, I like what I see

An investment into your happiness

Respectfully means something to me 

I’d like to get to know you better

I’m not trying to change your life

Somehow, my world is more beautiful

And I’d really love to see you sometime

Dealing with adversity

We have to play our hand

When do we fold?

When will we make a stand?

The development of our character

Is not readily given

It is forged through our trials

And for those who do not readily give in

Most parents want what is best for their children

Just how will they prepare?

What behaviors will they model?

Which stories will they share?

For events we cannot control

It may be time for a prayer

I’ve never loved anything more deeply

Than my children who are all now grown

I can only pray they remain safe

As I reach out now over the telephone

We are agents of our destiny

Do we manifest what is returned?

And if this is true

Than what have we earned?

I feel deflated and I feel down

When you lose any hope

It’s hard to make a rebound

If you can make any peace

With your self-doubt

If you remain steadfast

There is a chance you will not opt out

Don’t give up

Fight the fight

It may get tough

But you might sleep better at night

The more we acquiesce

The more we stop to try

The less we’ll have success

The more you’ll want to cry

Revere the enthusiastic

Remember the Greek

“The god within”

Reject what is meek

To become courageous

We should never rest

Until the good is better

And the better is best

I look for solace

When thinking too much

On things of the troubling kind

There is strength in your weakness

Knowing sometimes you must bend

Like a reed in the wind

Or when we make amends

The problem of wisdom

We do not practice what we preach

Sometimes it is not in our grasp

And outside our reach

The power of forgiveness

The solution of humanity

A way to spare ourselves

And a way to keep our sanity
