The Hornswoggle boondoggle

When you argue and debate from confirmation bias

You find opinion that is similar to your own

You then use it as a hive-mind data point

Rather than standing all alone

You can easily find people

Who might likely agree

But this does not prove any argument

So don’t take it from me

Have you ever really noticed?

The political activism on social media

Many people are not purveyors of truth

I know this from common sense and not from any encyclopedia

Copyright law was originally overlooked

LimeWire , and Napster made it possible to steal

Like social media and political activism -technology allows you a platform but it doesn’t mean you’re right for free speech is welcome if you only advocate senseless division – the case is now on appeal

Please adhere to the rules of engagement

Manners and etiquette are a reasonable request

Don’t babble about the Hornswoggle boondoggle

Or you might be known as a pest

True beauty never changes

True beauty, never changes

Only in our experience that we observe, we may realize

The Sufi’s describe this to see “the face of God“

When the mind can filter and allow us to recognize

It’s one thing to view a beautiful sunset over the ocean

And another to look upon someone you love

One by grace from God

One a relationship as a hand fits into a glove

Are they gifts?

Or is one a dance?

A recognition?

A happenstance?

Beauty can be found almost anywhere

For those who are blessed to see

Even in the mind of the blind

If you touch, you can feel, if you hear than you too, will be!

You might ask how I come to know this

What doctrine, what Mystic, what Sage do I believe?

I only know in my own experience

When I give of myself I will receive

I am not at the center of the universe

I can see the beauty in helping others in need

The Centurion Longanus, who stuck the spear into Jesus on the cross

Had his sight restored as he watched the Christ bleed

Only takes two shakes of a lamb’s tail

I’m not sure just where I am heading

But I am certain I know where I’ve been

Only takes two shakes of a lamb’s tail

To know where and when I begin

Mama told me yeah she told me

About Sunday school and sin

Sometimes it’s best to know how to lose

Before you think you know how to win

Can’t say I’ve always done the right thing

But I can say I know I have tried

Better to be honest and truthful

Then to lie when you confide

I don’t expect much from the world anymore

But I do expect more from me

I believe in self sacrifice

But I also believe in reciprocity

Only takes two shakes of a Lamb‘s tail

My mama used to say to me

But now I am on my own

And I will see what I will see

I believe in having a strong moral character

One to navigate the moral tide

Without such a compass

the soul is likely to hide

Five simple rules

Denzel says you must first learn

Then you earn

and then you return

Which means you develop the self: the body, the mind and the spirit

Then you face the world; an agency in the community

What will you bring to the table?

What will be your ingenuity?

For the body I must have discipline and dedication

For the spirit, I must have devotion

For the mind, I must have determination

And for society, I must have diplomacy

Five simple rules

Discipline, dedication, devotion, diplomacy and determination

This pilgrimage I take

With reciprocity and association

the quest for knowledge

The quest for peace

Materialism never wins

As the body will one day cease

Time is our currency

In the ever presence of mind

We live only in the here and now

Forever, are we bound in time?

When your love becomes a gift

I was told I fall in love easily

Maybe it’s true and maybe it’s not

at least I can say

I know what I’ve got

Sometimes love can heal

Sometimes love can hurt

Sometimes love is forgiving

Rest assured, the heart will alert

If we stop risking

Taking a leap of faith with our heart

Living life without any love

Is one that is not very smart

You can admire from a distance

Though unrequited you can also love from afar

Unbalanced and clearly not ideal

Still better than to wish upon a falling star

These lessons that we learn

In the canvas of our lifetime

Our hearts will paint a picture

That only our hearts will hear the chime

They say to err is human

To forgive is divine

Take the self and ego out of the equation

Just what will you find?

Reciprocity is a factor

I cannot deny

Our happiness is essential

And this we should not defy

There will be a time

When your love becomes a gift

Unfamiliar to the broken hearts

That will send your own heart adrift

What would you embrace?

I’d rather see wonder

Than a bully on the street

I’d rather stand up to tyranny

Than to bow and kneel at their feet

How we choose

How we live

What we take

And what we give

We are agents of our decisions

In our mind/body vessel we navigate

How shall we proceed?

What shall be our fate?

What gives meaning to our values?

They are tested over time

When we have no answers

Where do we turn for a sign?

Ask an elderly person in hospice

Ask a cancer patient in stage four

What would you have done differently?

What would you have payed attention to more?

When we face our mortality

The men of God

The men of war

What would you embrace?

What would you deplore?

We are agents of our destiny

Dealing with adversity

We have to play our hand

When do we fold?

When will we make a stand?

The development of our character

Is not readily given

It is forged through our trials

And for those who do not readily give in

Most parents want what is best for their children

Just how will they prepare?

What behaviors will they model?

Which stories will they share?

For events we cannot control

It may be time for a prayer

I’ve never loved anything more deeply

Than my children who are all now grown

I can only pray they remain safe

As I reach out now over the telephone

We are agents of our destiny

Do we manifest what is returned?

And if this is true

Than what have we earned?

Through mind and body

Some of my fondest memories

Lie on a Southern California beach

Sand between my toes

The Sun I beseech

The oil on my skin

Turns me dark and brown

After this relaxing day

I’ll turn back to town

Like the Sun

Irradiating my body physique

Ideas from a great book

Stimulates the intellect I seek

Through mind and body

The spiritual realm on display

Easiest to be seen

In the picture of Dorian Gray

If you nourish the body

If you nourish the mind

If you nourish the soul

Than maybe you will find

A noble truth

A better life

Reduce the cause

That leads to strife

Understanding this equation

W. Somerset Maugham’s Larry Darrell – The Razor’s Edge

Steven Spielberg’s Saving Private Ryan

Two characters, two world wars

Changed their lives forever in the face of dyin’

The awakening of human spirit

We are beings of frequency ready to receive

We are also responsible and capable

For what we shall perceive

Be you on a pilgrimage of ignorance

Or on a pilgrimage of awakening

We calibrate our receptivity

We calibrate our enabling

Opportunities are yours

For those capable to see

Understanding this equation

Is a fundamental key

A Simple Act of Kindness

A simple act of kindness

Can touch a heart and a mind

Sometimes we don’t appreciate

That we are all intertwined

The day we stop caring

The day we disassociate

Another inclement juncture

Another bitter one to negotiate

A warming disposition

A heartfelt devotion

Fills a receptive vessel

The cause for harmonic emotion

The golden rule

Manifest and create

Pay it forward

Don’t hesitate

Inertia with distinction

Can change activity

To pass along one’s good fortune

Increases our mutual conductivity

Think back to a time

When you received a merciful hand

What were the circumstances?

Did you escape the quicksand?
