The Garden You Forgot
We run through fields with open hands,
chasing wings that dip and dart,
mapping joy in shifting sands,
hoping distance heals the heart.
But butterflies were built for flight,
and closer chase makes further flee —
the harder that we chase all night,
the less of love we’ll ever see.
So set the chasing down like stone,
and turn instead toward fertile ground —
there is a garden, yours alone,
where quieter miracles are found.
Kneel and pull the weeds of fear,
water what in you still grows,
let the seasons draw you near
to selves that only patience knows.
Plant the color of your worth,
not to summon, not to earn —
just to bloom upon the earth
for love that others cannot learn.
And what you chased will come to rest
upon the petals that you grew —
not because you begged or guessed,
but because you bloomed, and it knew.
And if it never comes at all,
if wings decide to drift and roam,
the garden answers to no call —
its beauty still becomes your home.
So let this be the way you love,
the way you reach for dream or fame —
stop grasping at the sky above;
let roots decide what you became.
There is no rush in what is real,
no proof to give, no borrowed plea —
just steady hands that learn to heal
the soil into what it’s meant to be.
So tend the garden of your days,
not for what it draws or earns —
let living be its own quiet praise,
and trust the beauty that returns.

DCG
They say, if you chase butterflies, they will fly away. But if you create a beautiful garden, the butterflies will come. And if they do not, you will still have a beautiful garden. Maybe that is how life works. You do not have to chase everything you want. Sometimes, you just have to create a beautiful life, and let the right things find their way to you.”
