The Ambivalent Case of Absurdity

The ambivalent case of absurdity

We all have our crosses to bare

The misanthrope projects their grievances

The forsaken rarely take time to share

We define our intentions

From our works in our making

Little do we contemplate

The unforeseen events we are mistaking

The arrogant dismiss the self evident

The prudent chart a course more true

Yet neither can claim any authority over

All events in what they purview

The individualist sacrifices his liberty

A culture war in the collective askew

Take leave the dearly departed

The disenfranchised exclaim “adieu“

The theater of the body politic

The masks we wear make their debut

Scarce are those who will triumph

An accomplishment for only a few
